On 30 May 2022, the Todd Boehly-led consortium officially took over as Chelsea owners. The path to the takeover was chaotic, but it was nothing compared to the approach to the transfer market that followed.

Boehly commenced his post as the chairman and interim sporting director on 20 June 2022, just in time to orchestrate Chelsea’s first market-shocking summer. Since then, Boehly and the Blues have been relentless.

How Many Signings Have Chelsea Made Under Todd Boehly?

Still the chairman of the club, the American businessman has now overseen six full transfer windows and the better part of a seventh.

As of 5 August 2025, the Blues have signed exactly 50 players on loan or permanent deals. Some of those have been for promising young players like Deivid Washington, Ângelo, Andrey Santos, Marc Guiu, and Kendry Páez, and some were loanees like Jadon Sancho and Denis Zakaria.

Most of the others, of course, required hefty transfer fees, like those paid for Enzo Fernández, Wesley Fofana, Raheem Sterling, Moisés Caicedo, Roméo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto, and, most recently, João Pedro.

Even so, while Chelsea did win the FIFA Club World Cup and the Europa Conference League last season, few sports betting markets see this transfer strategy as being one that can win them the Premier League in 2025/26.

How Much is the Chelsea Transfer Spend Under Boehly?

To date (5 August 2025), the Chelsea transfer spend under Todd Boehly stands at £1441.23 billion. Not one season has gone by under the new ownership without spending at least £243 million – but that’s this season so far.

With plenty of time to splash the cash on more players and try to improve those football betting odds to win the title, there’ll be far shorter odds on Chelsea making the £245.4 million spend of 2024/25 their lowest yet.

You can also add in additional fees that the club have paid out, such as to former manager Graham Potter, who struggled to meet the high expectations of the club after it threw a host of new players at him.

How Much is the Chelsea Transfer Income Under Boehly?

Naturally, with financial fair play biting down wherever it can, many wonder how Chelsea have balanced the books. They have made some business moves, like by selling the women’s team to itself, but transfer revenue is always needed.

Again, as of right now, Chelsea’s transfer income under Todd Boehly comes in at £644.6 million. That figure only accounts for around 44.7 per cent of the club’s total spending, leaving £796.63 million to come from revenue generated.

Forbes reports that Chelsea’s operating income is around -£8 million (minus £8m) with revenues of £469 million. Of course, conquering the FIFA Club World Cup and its reported £85 million in total winnings will help balance the books a bit.
