Mary Earps is a goalkeeper for PSG. She was elevated to status of national hero in the summer of 2022 as an integral part of the Lionesses’ Euros-winning side. Interest in Earps’ career on the pitch and life away from it has soared since then.

Born in Nottingham, Earps’ ability between the sticks has made her an icon. Like many goalkeepers, she has a larger-than-life personality, making her all the more captivating.

Sarina Wiegman immediately placed faith in Earps, elevating her profile in the sport. Under the stewardship of Wiegman and a regular at Manchester United at the time, Earps has consolidated her place among the best players at her position.

Let’s learn a bit more about the former England number one…

Mary Earps Net Worth & Salary

Estimations of Mary Earps net worth range from £1 million up to £4 million.

Exact financial figures for the England goalkeeper are hard to come by. Salaries for female footballers are not as publicly known as their male counterparts.

Since becoming a factor in sports betting, however, Earps has represented a raft of clubs, including a spell of success in Germany with Wolfsburg and several seasons with Manchester United.

Even if exact figures at unknown, Earps is bound to have received a healthy salary for her club play. In 2023, it was speculated that she was on over £310,000 per year at Manchester United. She enjoyed a significant pay rise when she joined PSG in 2024, becoming the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world.

Alongside her playing wage, Earps will also earn income through endorsement deals. She is a brand ambassador for Reusch and will have countless other opportunities to partner with brands.

Partner & Private Life

There has been no reporting of Mary Earps being in a relationship. Unlike some footballers, she keeps most of her private life well away from social media.

It is bound to hit the headlines if Earps gets into a relationship in the coming years.

PSG Move

Mary Earps joined PSG from Manchester United in 2024. It was a move Earps saw as a challenge and felt getting away from the spotlight of English football would help her develop.

Speaking on Football Focus, the former England international said, "It's been an amazing few years, but I'm always thinking about what more I can do.

"I've been named best goalkeeper in the world for two years and I did it two years running, which no goalkeeper has done in that time, but I'm thinking I want to do it a third time.

"That's just how I am, that's what always drives me. I'm always competing with yesterday's version of me, and that's what's really important to me, how can I be better than I was yesterday?"

Retirement

Mary Earps has not retired from all football.

Despite enjoying her first year in the French capital, Earps opted to retire from international duty a month before the Euros in May 2025. The decision reportedly came after Earps was told she was no longer first choice.

She felt ‘villainised’ about the decision, which received considerable public backlash.

Speech

Mary Earps delivered a touching speech after receiving The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper award in February 2023.

Officially crowned as the best in her position in world football, Earps spoke eloquently about her journey from almost quitting football to being a European champion and a national hero.

“Thank you to everyone who voted for me. I feel really honoured to be holding this really heavy trophy.

“I just want to say thank you so much to my loved ones who have picked me up off the kitchen floor to be here today - not specifically tonight, but a few years ago.

“Thank you so much to all of my team-mates, without them this wouldn't be possible.

“The coaching staff at Man United and England, but particularly Ian Willcock and Darren Ward, who I'm pretty sure deserve a trophy of their own for putting up with me every single day, because that isn't easy.

“Sarina [Wiegman], I run out of words to say thanks to you for the opportunity you have given me to chase my wildest dreams and for believing in me the way you have.”

Earps ended with a motivational message to anyone struggling with their mental health.

“This is for anyone who has ever been in a dark place, just know that there's light at the end of the tunnel. Keep going, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.

“Sometimes success looks like this, collecting trophies, sometimes it's just waking up and putting one step in front of the other.

“There's only one of you in the world, and that's more than good enough. Be unapologetically yourself. Thank you everyone.”

After a speech which led to widespread praise on social media, Earps took the time to speak with the FA.

“[It feels] surreal. I don’t even have any words. I feel like I’ve done like 5000 interviews and just babbled on like a complete fool. So I’m just so thankful, so grateful.

“Thank you so much for your incredible support. For everyone who voted for me and put me in this position. I’m so, so thankful and long may it continue. Hopefully, we can go on and make some more incredible memories together.”

Waxwork

Mary Earps became the first female footballer to have a waxwork at London's Madame Tussauds.

Hours of work went into the design of the waxwork after fans voted for Earps to receive the honour. The figure is dressed in her kit from the 2023 World Cup final.

At the reveal event, the England goalkeeper said, “To make this mark as the first female footballer to have a figure at Madame Tussauds London is incredibly special. This is not about me. This is a representation of how women’s football has grown and the trajectory it’s on. This is a celebration of that!

"Seeing my friends, family, and fans' reactions to the figure is absolutely amazing, they couldn’t believe how accurate the features are – neither can I if I’m honest! My Gran especially is amazed by it all and I’m so happy she gets to share this moment with me."
