Breaking onto the scene as a teenager with his hometown club of Birmingham City, Jobe Bellingham had immense expectations on his shoulders after seeing his brother ascend to superstardom.

Jobe has walked a very similar path to his older sibling, who is now plying his trade in La Liga betting markets week in, week out. He debuted at 16 before earning a move to Sunderland.

The Black Cats recouped the largest transfer fee of any newly promoted Premier League side when they sold Bellingham to Borussia Dortmund.

From the Championship to the Bundesliga, Bellingham has copied his brother’s route of avoiding the scrutiny and chaos of the topflight of English football.

Going to one of the Premier League betting favourites has derailed many a career for English starlets.

How Much Is Jobe Bellingham Worth?

An exact figure for Bellingham’s net worth hasn’t been publicly reported. His career earnings aren’t that substantial yet, but the former Birmingham City midfielder is still likely to be worth several million pounds.

Aside from a deal to wear Adidas boots, Bellingham is yet to have any major endorsement deals since turning professional.

That’s likely to change in the years to come, however, which will help to further increase his net worth.

Contract

In the summer of 2025, Bellingham followed in the footsteps of his brother by signing a five-year contract with Borussia Dortmund. The deal doesn’t expire until after the 2029/20 season.

His salary hasn’t been publicly reported, but it’s notable that there is no release clause in the deal.

Transfer to Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund paid £27 million, with a potential £4.2 million in add-ons, for Jobe Bellingham in the summer of 2025. The deal was reported on BBC Sport on 10th June 2025.

Signed from Sunderland, Bellingham was keen to thank the fans.

"You welcomed me with open arms as a kid leaving home for the first time, and I am proud that our relationship has grown to be so strong.

"I will always represent Wearside in all that I strive to achieve for the rest of my career, wherever that may be.

"I hope that I have made you proud along the way, and in return, you have made me the player that has reached the heights I find myself at today.

"I will love and remember you fondly for the rest of my life."

While he’s keen to avoid comparisons with his brother, it’s clear Jobe is relishing the opportunity to play at the top level. He made his debut for Dortmund in the Club World Cup soon after the transfer.

On the move, Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl said, "We're pleased that we were able to complete the transfer before the FIFA Club World Cup and that we'll see Jobe in our colours for the first time in the USA.

"He's at his best and passionate about the task. Jobe wants and will forge his own path at BVB and put his own stamp on our game."

Brother

Jobe Bellingham’s older brother is Jude Bellingham, who is a perennial football betting candidate for the Ballon d’Or.

Like Jobe, Jude spent his formative years in the Birmingham City academy, becoming a fan favourite in the process.

Sunderland Transfer Fee

Sunderland paid around £1.5 million to sign Jobe Bellingham from Birmingham City in the summer of 2023.

Immediately given the number seven shirt, Bellingham had featured for Birmingham as a teenager and was a regular for England at under-16, under-17, and under-18 levels.

Kristjaan Speakman, Sunderland’s sporting director, said, “Jobe’s a player who is focused on being the best version of himself and for him to feel that Sunderland can best support that progression is a massive endorsement of what we are doing.

“He has a great range of technical attributes and he will continue to develop physically despite already showing that he can shoulder the demands of Championship football.”

Name On Shirt

Jobe Bellingham wears ‘Jobe’ rather than ‘Bellingham’ on his shirt to ensure he has his own identity as a footballer. Coming through the same academy and both breaking onto the scene at similar ages, Jobe has often been in the shadow of his older brother.

For instance, Jobe became the second-youngest player in Birmingham’s history at 16 years and 107 days. Jude, of course, was the youngest.

He even moved from Birmingham to Sunderland on the same day his brother joined Real Madrid. When he joined the Black Cats, Jobe made the switch on the back of his shirt.

Tony Mowbray was Sunderland manager at the time. He explained the decision, "He’s trying to create his own identity.

“He doesn’t want to live off the back of his brother’s name; he wants to be the footballer that he is and show people what he can do.”
