Gameweek 4 – Up For 8 Football Predictions:

Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest - Saturday, 3pm

Prediction: Home Win

Reasoning: Aston Villa have won each of the last five games here against Nottingham Forest in all competitions, whilst they’ve won each of the last six Premier League meetings in this fixture on home soil. They return to Villa Park off a confidence‑boosting 3-2 victory away to Club Brugge. Nottingham Forest are also looking for their first PL win of the season; they’ve won none of their last eleven trips here in all competitions, last winning back in 1994.

Confidence: High

AFC Bournemouth v Brentford - Saturday, 3pm

Prediction: Draw

Reasoning: AFC Bournemouth are still looking for their first win of the season in the Premier League. They became the first side to score first in their opening three Premier League games of the season and fail to win any of them following that 2-2 draw at Newcastle. Brentford tend to enjoy this fixture; they are unbeaten in their last ten meetings in all competitions (W7, D3). But with both sides drawing two of their three league games this season, a stalemate looks likely.

Confidence: Medium

Crystal Palace v Ipswich Town - Saturday, 3pm

Prediction: Home Win

Reasoning: Crystal Palace ended a nine‑game winless run in the Premier League last weekend with a 3-2 victory at Fulham. They’ve now got the chance to win successive PL games for the first time since December 2025. The Eagles won both of their meetings against Ipswich 1-0 back in the 2024/2025 campaign. Ipswich Town travel to south London off the back of back‑to‑back defeats; they’ve won none of their last four visits to Selhurst Park in all competitions.

Confidence: High

Middlesbrough v Norwich City - Saturday, 3pm

Prediction: Home Win

Reasoning: Just one point separates these two sides in the Championship at this early stage. Boro are unbeaten in their last six home games across all competitions, whilst they remain unbeaten in their last nine games against Norwich City (W6, D3). The Canaries have won back‑to‑back games in the Championship and arrive full of confidence, although they’ve won none of their last four visits here (D1, L3). It should be a close game, but I’m edging towards a home win.

Confidence: Low

Tottenham Hotspur v Everton - Saturday, 5.30pm

Prediction: Home Win

Reasoning: Tottenham Hotspur enter Gameweek 4 occupying a relegation spot in 18th following their failure to win any of their first three games (D1, L2), whilst they remain one of just three sides yet to find the back of the net. However, history is on Spurs’ side here as they’ve only lost one of their last seventeen Premier League home games against Everton (W12, D4). The Toffees remain unbeaten so far (W1, D2), but their last victory here came back in 2020 — a game played behind closed doors. Another tight one, this, but Spurs to nick it.

Confidence: Low

Sheffield United v Wolverhampton Wanderers - Sunday, 12pm

Prediction: Away Win

Reasoning: Sheffield United return to home soil having picked up a 2-1 victory against Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night, but they lost their last encounter here in the league and welcome a Wolverhampton Wanderers side that are one of the favourites to gain promotion this season. After an impressive start, Wolves are now winless in their last two outings, but they look brilliant in front of goal and with four wins from the previous five meetings between the pair, it’s hard to back against the Old Gold.

Confidence: Medium

Coventry City v Brighton & Hove Albion - Sunday, 2pm

Prediction: Away Win

Reasoning: Coventry City remain one of just two sides (Fulham) yet to pick up a point from their first three games since their return to the Premier League. Frank Lampard’s side are also yet to find themselves on the scoresheet. It’s been a mixed start for Brighton & Hove Albion (W1, D1, L1). The Seagulls have lost just one of their last fourteen Premier League games against newly‑promoted sides (W7, D6). This won’t be straightforward, but I’m leaning towards an away win.

Confidence: Medium

Manchester United v Manchester City - Sunday, 4.30pm

Prediction: Draw

Reasoning: This is the game of the weekend and a really tough one to call. Manchester United have the chance to make it two wins in a row at Old Trafford against their neighbours — something they’ve not done since a run of three between 2008/2009 and 2010/2011. Manchester City make the short trip across the city having now won just one of their last four meetings in the Premier League against United (L1, D2), but confidence will be high having won each of their last four outings this season across all competitions.

Confidence: Low
