Born in Wythenshawe, Manchester in 2002, Cole Palmer’s talents captured the attention of scouts from a young age.
At just 10 years old, he was lighting up a tournament in Germany, and by his mid-teens, he captained Manchester City’s under-18s to a league title.
With a slim build and no outrageous physical gifts, Palmer relied on technical brilliance to work his way through the academy ranks.
Some at City doubted he had the body to cope with the rigours of the fiercest Premier League betting clashes, but he soon proved those critics wrong.
While a stacked City squad made it almost impossible for him to break into the first team as a regular, Palmer landed a move to Chelsea for around £40 million.
It seemed like a big gamble from the Blues, but he immediately proved to be a bargain with a string of marquee performances.
Before long, the football betting markets had him among the PFA Player of the Year favourites, and he was a regular in Gareth Southgate’s England squads.
How Much Is Cole Palmer Worth?
Palmer’s net worth is estimated to be around £12.5 million. The England international is destined to his total worth climb in the years to come as he reaps the rewards from his nine-year contract extension with Chelsea.
Endorsements are bound to flood in for Palmer, too. He’s done promotional work for EA Sports, has become one of the faces of Nike’s football marketing, and has even worked with Burberry.
Palmer and his management team made the decision to trademark his Cold Palmer celebration. He also penned a new deal with Nike in March 2025, which is bound to have been very lucrative.
Salary
According to Spotrac, Palmer is on £130,000 per week at Chelsea. This is less than Donyell Malen and Lucas Paqueta. Over 60 Premier League players are earning more than Palmer per week.
A further pay rise is likely in the years to come if Palmer continues on his current trajectory. Already one of the best players in the Premier League, he’s integral to Chelsea’s short, medium, and long-term planning.
Family Life
Palmer’s grandfather moved to the UK from St. Kitts in 1960 – the Chelsea star has a flag representing the Caribbean Island along with the St. George’s Cross on his boots.
His mother Marie is in the stands supporting her son at all of his matches, while his father Jeramine was responsible the development of his crisp first touch.
Palmer spent many hours with his father at Hollyhedge Park controlling balls out of the sky. He also has two half-sisters and a sister.
England
Having represented England at under-17, Palmer earned his under-21 debut in 2021 and was a key part of the squad that won the under-21 Euros two years later. He made his senior debut in November 2023 after a blistering start to his Chelsea career.
A lock for Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad, Palmer was primarily used off the bench, yet still had a major impact on the tournament.
He scored a penalty in the shootout win over Switzerland, assisted Ollie Watkins’ semi-final winner, and netted the equaliser in the final moments after coming off the bench.
He was named England’s Player of the Year for the 2023/24 season.
Transfer
Since signing for Chelsea in 2023, Palmer has been subject to numerous transfer rumours.
PSG and Manchester United have been mentioned as potential suitors, with some suggesting the former could bid a quarter of a billion for the Chelsea star. A sensational return to Manchester City has even been mooted.
Most reporting indicates Palmer is happy at Chelsea, though, and he seems to have a good relationship with manager Enzo Maresca.
Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso is an admirer of Palmer, according to reports from Spain.
TeamTalk don’t believe Chelsea would even consider selling their most prized asset; however, with E-Noticies claiming it would be an ‘impossible mission’ trying to sign Palmer.
