Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo is one of the many recruitment success stories from the Matthew Benham era at Brentford.

Signed as a young talent for a club-record fee from Troyes in 2019, Mbeumo rapidly became a key player for the Bees.

Having established himself across a couple of Championship seasons, Mbeumo was vital as Brentford ensured they were a fixture in Premier League odds for the first part of the 2020s.

He didn’t attract the football betting attention of his long-time frontline accomplice Ivan Toney, but Mbeumo was a vital cog in Thomas Frank’s Brentford.

Since Toney went down the well-trodden path from the Premier League to Saudi Arabia, Mbeumo’s reputation has blossomed.

How Much Is Bryan Mbeumo Worth?

Bryan Mbeumo has an estimated net worth of £5 million. While the French-born forward has been in the Premier League for several seasons, his earnings are pretty mediocre by the standards of England’s topflight.

He doesn’t have the profile to sign blockbuster endorsement deals. Playing at a club of Brentford’s size isn’t going to lead to a great deal of off-field opportunities.

Despite previously donning Adidas boots, Mbeumo has been seen wearing Nike in 2024. His partnerships with boot manufacturers are bound to have boosted his income.

Contract

Bryan Mbeumo penned a new four-year contract with Brentford early in 2022. This came less than three years after signing his initial five-year deal with the Bees.

According to Spotrac, Brentford have a team option for the 2026-27 season. Spotrac has Mbeumo earning the joint-297th largest salary in the Premier League at £45,000 per week.

This is the same amount as Adam Lallana, Calvin Bassey, and various others. Kenny Tete, Lewis Cook, and Manor Solomon are among the 296 players on more than Mbeumo.

Eddie Nketiah, Dominic Solanke, and Harry Winks are all on exactly double Mbeumo’s salary. He’s grossly underpaid for his production.

Ruben Dias and Enzo Fernandez are among a group of five players earning four times Mbeumo’s salary. There are 26 Premier League players on £200,000 or more per week.

Brentford

Brentford signed Bryan Mbeumo from Troyes for a club-record fee of £5.8 million in August 2019. The signing was announced two days before Mbeumo’s 20th birthday.

At the time of the signing, Brentford manager Thomas Frank said, “Bryan is exactly the sort of player we want at Brentford. He is quick, he is direct, he can beat people attacking one-on-one, he can arrive late in the penalty area and he can score goals. It is also great that he works unbelievably hard off the ball.

“He is a young player and we may have to be patient but there is even more to come from him than we have seen so far at Troyes. He is a very exciting player and one I am looking forward to working with. It is great that we have been able to add Bryan to our squad.”

Rasmus Ankersen, Brentford’s Co-Director of Football, added, “Bryan is an incredible talent and someone we followed closely over the last season as he had his breakthrough at Troyes. We look forward to fulfilling his big potential at Brentford over the next few years.”

Nominated for EFL Player of the Year in 2019-20 and 2020-21, Mbeumo was integral as Brentford earned promotion to the Championship, despite his goal contribution numbers declining in the second of his two seasons in the second tier.

His debut Premier League season saw him score eight goals and tie the Premier League record for the most shots to hit the woodwork in a single campaign (seven).

A consistent performer in the years that followed, Mbeumo received multiple nominations for Premier League Player of the Month and attracted interest from some of the country’s biggest clubs.

Transfer

Liverpool, Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Newcastle have been rumoured as suitors for Bryan Mbeumo.

A transfer would inevitably lead to a major wage increase for Mbeumo from his current weekly salary of £45,000.

Reports claimed Liverpool and Arsenal have ‘priced out’ of a move for Mbeumo in the 2025 January transfer window.

Liverpool have sufficient depth in attacking areas but might be planning for Mohamed Salah’s potential departure. Arsenal’s forward options are more limited.

Newcastle might be the easiest fit for Mbeumo if he opts to leave Brentford. There is less competition for places than at Liverpool or Tottenham where he would likely be reduced to a bench role.

Release Clause

There is no concrete reporting on whether Bryan Mbeumo has a release clause as part of his Brentford contract. It has been reported by reputable sources that Brentford are asking for at least £50 million for the Cameroonian.

Premier League teams include release clauses less frequently than their counterparts around Europe.

With Mbeumo’s contract running until the summer of 2027, Brentford have all the leverage in negotiations of his future.
